Children’s Hospital Colorado Staff Lounge, Aurora, Colorado
Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora, Colorado has transformed shell space into an expanded staff lounge, prioritizing the well-being of its employees. The project, completed in May 2022, was led by SmithGroup and involved input from over 40 physicians and surgeons to create a modern, light-filled space designed for collaboration, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Creating a Modern Respite Space
The new 3,400-square-foot lounge, located adjacent to the surgery platform, offers a variety of spaces and flexibility for staff. Comfortable seating nooks, collaboration areas, private workspaces, and a kitchen and dining area provide opportunities for socializing, peer support, and relaxation. Additional amenities such as a lactation room, recharge/wellness room, and ensuite restroom cater to the diverse needs of the hospital staff.
