The University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS), a part of Penn Medicine, is in the process of acquiring nonprofit Doylestown Health located in Doylestown, Pa. This strategic move will effectively expand UPHS’ network into Bucks County, Pa., adding the flagship Doylestown Hospital, a 247-bed teaching facility, to its portfolio.
The acquisition is a natural progression of the existing relationship between UPHS and Doylestown Health. Doylestown Hospital is already part of the Penn Cancer Network, working in collaboration with Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center in the Philadelphia area.
Once the acquisition is complete, Doylestown Hospital will join the UPHS umbrella as the seventh hospital under its management.
