TORTUS, a generative AI startup, has successfully raised $4.2 million in funding from Khosla Ventures. The company’s goal is to provide every clinician with a personal AI assistant to streamline the clinical documentation process. TORTUS’s O.S.L.E.R (Operating System Leverage in Electronic Records) product is designed to automate time-consuming administrative tasks for healthcare professionals, enabling them to allocate more time to patient care. This innovative solution can automate clinical documentation processes, including pre-chart summaries, visit notes, lab requests, and coding, by leveraging conversations between clinicians and patients and integrating with electronic health records systems. The seed funding round, led by Khosla Ventures and supported by Entrepreneur First and former NHS chair Lord David Prior, will accelerate the development and compliance of the O.S.L.E.R agent, expanding its capabilities to include functions such as prescription orders and diagnoses. Additionally, TORTUS has partnered with Great Ormond Street Hospital for a pilot program to evaluate its technology in a clinical setting. This collaboration marks the first deployment of generative AI in an NHS trust and underscores TORTUS’s commitment to developing and deploying innovative technologies to benefit clinicians and patients.
