In the past nine months, since partnering with Discovery Senior Living, Integral Senior Living has experienced a whirlwind of integration and growth, according to CEO Collette Gray.
Gray mentioned during an interview at the Senior Living 100 Conference that the partnership with Discovery has been transformative for ISL. By combining the strengths of both companies, ISL has created a unique and successful collaboration.
Integration with Discovery has provided ISL with access to crucial support functions, leading to significant advancements in business capabilities, staffing efficiency, and care outcomes. The partnership has also allowed ISL to benefit from an on-call legal team and other resources previously unavailable to them.
Now operating as Discovery’s largest vertically integrated senior living operator, ISL manages over 113 communities across 24 states. The partnership has resulted in the elevation of some ISL teams to the corporate level to support communities beyond the ISL portfolio.
The collaboration between ISL and Discovery, announced in early February 2023, has been a catalyst for operational excellence and growth. As the integration continues, ISL plans to open two new developments in Texas and Nevada in 2024, focusing on driving results and enhancing the resident and associate experience.
By leveraging the support of Discovery’s corporate team, ISL can monitor real-time data on resident health, occupancy, and more to make informed decisions that drive improvements. Gray emphasized the importance of continued innovation in technology integration to streamline operations and enhance the overall resident care experience.
Looking ahead, Gray believes that the partnership between ISL and Discovery will enable teams to work smarter, not harder, as they navigate the evolving landscape of senior living. She recognizes the challenges posed by rising acuity levels and changing service demands but remains optimistic about ISL’s ability to adapt and thrive in this new normal.
