Senescent cells are known to accumulate in aging tissues, leading to inflammation and age-related issues. While efforts are focused on destroying these cells, reducing their inflammatory signals is also important. Understanding how citrate metabolism regulates this process is crucial, as it could offer insights into controlling the harmful effects of senescent cells. By targeting specific pathways like ACLY-dependent citrate metabolism, we may be able to reduce the inflammatory signals associated with senescent cells and promote healthier aging.
