When facing procrastination, avoiding exercise, or any other unwanted habit, it’s important to understand that the underlying cause is often not what we think. Simply pushing ourselves to do the task we’re avoiding will not solve the problem. Instead, we need to address the real cause, which is an underlying emotional current.
Many of us are unaware of this emotional state causing avoidance and resist the emotion, even if we are aware of it. This resistance ultimately worsens the emotional state and perpetuates the cycle of avoidance.
Bringing awareness to our inner state and not resisting the emotion is crucial. By noticing when we are avoiding and identifying the underlying emotional state, we can take steps to address these issues and overcome avoidance.
After surrendering to the emotional state and practicing self-care, we will be in a better position to face what we’re avoiding, even if it’s just for a few minutes. This can lead to a positive emotional victory and open our hearts to addressing avoidance more effectively.
So next time you find yourself avoiding something, take the time to address the real cause and dance in victory once you’ve overcome it!
