Novak recently spoke with Senior Housing News about her unique journey into the senior living sector, the impact of technology, and her experiences navigating the industry.
What sparked your interest in this industry?
My path into this industry felt predestined. Childhood visits to a local nursing home left a lasting impression on me. Witnessing the loneliness and conditions there fueled my desire to make a difference. A visit to an Arrow community years later evoked strong emotions, affirming my calling.
What has been your biggest lesson since entering this field?
Senior living defies misconceptions. It has been a discovery of joy, growth, and vibrant life. Challenging stereotypes has opened my eyes to the richness of this industry and the diverse stories and experiences within it.
If you could alter one aspect of senior living for the future, what would it be?
While the industry evolves rapidly, changing perceptions is crucial. I envision a future where senior living is embraced and accessible to all. Shifting attitudes and promoting inclusivity are key for the advancement of our field.
How do you foresee the senior living landscape evolving by 2025?
A greater emphasis on connection and technological integration will define the industry’s future. Leveraging technology to enhance care and streamline processes will facilitate more personalized interactions and improve overall quality of life for residents.
In one word, how would you describe the future of senior living?
Revolutionary.

Empathy. Genuine care and understanding are foundational qualities that drive successful leadership in this field.
If you could offer advice to your past self on your first day in the industry, what would it be?
Prepare for a transformative journey. Embrace the challenges and uncertainties, for every experience, no matter how bumpy, contributes to your growth and the impact you will make in the industry.
