Discovery Senior Living is excited to announce the launch of its latest operating company, Arvum Senior Living. This expansion adds a significant milestone to Discovery’s diverse portfolio, with Arvum now managing properties in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Wisconsin. As a local management company, Arvum will receive support and services from the Discovery Operational Support Center, demonstrating Discovery’s commitment to enhancing the quality of senior living with a strong regional focus.
Heading the new company is Richard Totorico, a seasoned executive with over 30 years of healthcare experience. Totorico brings a wealth of knowledge in acute care, community-based, and senior living settings to his role as division chief operating officer of Arvum Senior Living.
Richard Hutchinson, CEO of Discovery Senior Living, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch, stating, “The addition of Arvum signifies the ongoing evolution in our multi-year strategic initiative aimed to seamlessly blend personalized local community management with the strength and stability of our differentiated home office specialty support departments. We are equally pleased to have Richard, a seasoned DSL executive at the helm of the Arvum team.”
This launch follows Discovery’s trend of growth, with the introduction of several other operating companies, including LakeHouse Senior Living in August 2023 and the partnership with Integral Senior Living in February 2023. The concept behind this strategy is to create autonomous, geographically-organized platforms that combine the advantages of a regional operator with the efficiencies of scale of a large, national operator.
Discovery also has national brands, including Discovery Village and Choreograph, and in 2022, the provider recapitalized in a partnership with Coastwood and Lee Equity, drawing from Lee Equity’s experience in the hotel sector to inform its growth strategy.
