As we approach the holiday season, it’s a time for gratitude and giving back. Why not consider volunteering your time and interests? It’s a great way to give back and connect with new people.
Volunteering has been shown to have numerous benefits for older adults. A study by Canada’s Rotman Research Institute found that just two hours of volunteering a week can improve overall health, reduce functional limitations and symptoms of depression, and even contribute to longevity. It’s also a fun way to get involved and socialize with others who share your interests.

When applying to volunteer, you will generally need to submit a detailed application, undergo a background check, provide vaccination status, and possibly give references and undergo training. You will also need to commit to a specified number of days/hours.
