NHS England Reminds Health Service Leaders of Mandated Returns Requirement During Electronic Patient Record Implementations
In a letter seen by Digital Health News, NHS England emphasized the importance of maintaining understanding of patient needs and reporting national data during EPR implementation. It highlighted instances of providers halting critical reporting due to EPR impact and reminded recipients of the submission requirement as part of their provider license.
The letter also advised using agreed governance mechanisms to mitigate risks and emphasized the need to report any data quality or completeness challenges, with high severity issues prioritized for remedy. Additionally, NHS England introduced additional governance for EPR go-lives to ensure business continuity.
Executives and digital leads at NHS trusts received the letter, jointly signed by Vin Diwakar, Sarah-Jane Marsh, and Sir James Mackey.
