Meet Holly Waterfield – a Brooklyn-based interior designer, stylist for The Brooklyn Home Company, and a mother to 16-year-old Emmy and nine-year-old Bodhi. Holly’s cozy and inviting apartment reflects her desire for her kids to feel like they can truly be themselves.
LIVING / DINING AREA
In the living and dining area, you’ll find a mix of cozy textiles and inspiring children’s artwork. Holly’s goal was to create a space that felt warm and welcoming for her family. She added two new walls and pocket doors to create three bedrooms in the open studio apartment she found in 2017. The sofa from ABC Home, custom throw pillows, and vintage wicker chair create a comfortable and inviting space for the entire family. One of the unique features in this space is a swing that Holly made for her kids after being inspired by an art exhibit back in 2012. A space to truly find joy in!
KITCHEN
The communal nature of Brooklyn living inspired Holly to cultivate a home where friends and family are always welcome. The kitchen serves as a gathering place for potlucks and other impromptu events. The addition of wooden frames displaying her kids’ self-portraits gives the space a personal touch.
BODHI’S ROOM
In Bodhi’s room, you’ll find a mix of vibrant colors and whimsical decor that captures his maximalist spirit. His sister, Emmy, has become a source of inspiration for his decor choices as he collects her castoffs. This room truly encapsulates Bodhi’s unique personality and creativity.
EMMY’S ROOM
Emmy’s room is a serene space that reflects her love for organization and timeless decor. The desk chair and floor pillows create a cozy and inviting space for reading and relaxing.
PRIMARY BEDROOM
Holly’s primary bedroom is a sanctuary where she can truly unwind. Keeping the space minimal and serene helps her find peace and relaxation after a busy day. A constant evolution, the space embodies the idea that a home is never truly “finished.”
