During the week leading up to Christmas in 1980, 19-year-old Jean Hilliard miraculously survived a life-threatening experience in a small Minnesota town called Lengby. After getting into a car accident and laying frozen in 22-below weather for over six hours, she was found by a cattle rancher and brought to the hospital. Doctors were astounded by her survival, and though some may consider it a miracle, similar cases of frozen victims making full recoveries have been reported. Hilliard’s remarkable recovery brought her national attention and, aside from a few frostbitten toes, she has led a normal life with no long-term health issues.
