The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust has recently implemented DrDoctor’s patient engagement platform (PEP) in its gender identity clinic. This initiative is part of a larger plan to extend the use of PEP to other departments within the trust by the end of 2024.
By integrating the PEP with their existing Carenotes electronic patient record (EPR) system, the trust aims to revolutionize the management of waiting lists and enhance patient engagement across all areas of service.
Dr. James Barrett, the lead clinician at the gender identity clinic, believes that this implementation has the potential to significantly benefit both patients and clinicians. The ability to quickly communicate with patients and gather real-time feedback will greatly improve the overall care experience.
In addition to the PEP, the trust will also introduce other innovative tools from DrDoctor, such as the ‘Broadcast Message’ and ‘Quick Question’ features. These tools will enable the trust to streamline communication with patients, send important updates via SMS, and gather valuable information to improve service delivery.
The project manager, Ian Curr, views the PEP patient portal as a crucial step in the trust’s digital transformation journey. Keeping patients informed and empowered throughout their care journey is a key priority for Tavistock and Portman.
With the implementation of DrDoctor’s notifications and messaging functionality, the trust will be able to efficiently manage appointments, reschedule when necessary, and prioritize patient care based on individual needs.
Tom Whicher, the founder of DrDoctor, commended Tavistock and Portman for their commitment to improving patient access and streamlining care pathways. The platform is designed to enhance efficiency and accuracy in healthcare delivery.
Other NHS trusts, such as Gloucestershire Hospitals and North Tees, have also embraced similar patient engagement platforms to enhance their services and support patient-centered care.
