Frugal hacks – all our money-saving tips and tricks – may seem small, but they add up over time to help us save big and feel accomplished.
Yesterday, I felt like I struck gold when I found a way to fix my old printer and save money instead of buying a new one for tax season. Being thrifty has its perks!
My partner jokes that everything I own is at least 40 years old (including him), but my lifelong habits of saving money have taught me some valuable frugal hacks that still work wonders:
My favorite? Unplugging appliances when they’re not in use. It saved me $11 on my utility bill last month. Waiting a few extra seconds for my TV to turn on is worth the savings.
Next up: Homemade potato chips. I have zero willpower when it comes to store-bought fried potato snacks. However, making my own chips from a 5 lb. bag of russet potatoes saves me money and calories.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average price for a 16-ounce bag of potato chips in February 2023 was $6.17. Making my own chips is a much cheaper and healthier alternative.
Customer service credits: Dealing with internet and phone issues can be frustrating, but politely requesting credits for downtime can help save money in the long run. Every little bit counts!
