“Cancer doesn’t care who you are; it comes at you, and you have no choice but to face it head-on,” Munn told People in a recent cover story.
A key part of Munn’s journey was her unexpected diagnosis in March 2023 despite negative genetic test results. A high breast cancer risk score led to the discovery of cancerous tumors, prompting a double mastectomy recommendation.
Describing the emotional toll of treatment, Munn shared her decision to undergo reconstructive surgery and hormone suppression therapy to lower future risks, leading to medically induced menopause. Through it all, her son Malcolm has been her anchor.
Reflecting on her journey, Munn emphasized the importance of self-advocacy and gratitude for the opportunity to fight. Despite the challenges, she remains positive and appreciative of the chance to overcome.
