NHS Somerset Integrated Care Board has announced that Black Pear Software Ltd has been awarded a five plus two-year contract as the Somerset Integrated Digital e-Record+ (SIDeR+) technology partner.

The first SIDeR contract with Black Pear began in 2018 and is set to conclude in April 2024. Since its launch in 2020, SIDeR now exceeds 30,000 uses per month, with over 2,200 users across health and care organizations in Somerset and beyond.

Additionally, there are over 42,000 care plans hosted on SIDeR that can be accessed and updated by appropriate members of staff involved in a patient’s care.

SIDeR+ is set to launch in April and will enhance the existing SIDeR service providing a shared care record and persistent shared care forms to support direct care.

The development of SIDeR+ over the next seven years will be led by NHS Somerset ICB and Black Pear Software Ltd, with support from stakeholders such as Somerset Council, Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, Primary Care, and St Margaret’s Hospice.

Dr Matthew Dolman, chief clinical information officer at NHS Somerset ICB, stated, “The ability for teams from multiple organizations to see a real-time view of each other’s records can provide an additional layer of safety when delivering person-centered and integrated care.”

The SIDeR+ program will include various advancements, such as access to documents shared with and stored in Somerset primary care GP systems, connection to some Dorset GP system records, sharing care plans to the National Care Record Service, and a digital version of the Somerset Treatment Escalation Plan.

Dr David Jehring, CEO at Black Pear Software Ltd, expressed enthusiasm about extending their collaboration through the SIDeR+ initiative, aiming to address contemporary healthcare challenges and enhance patient-centered care delivery.

In December, Somerset NHS Foundation Trust successfully integrated the Better Meds electronic prescribing and medication administration solution into SIDeR.
