Luminis Health, a nonprofit based in Annapolis, Maryland, has recently received approval from the Maryland Healthcare Commission in Baltimore to expand its labor and delivery services at Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center in Lanham, Maryland. This will be part of a $300 million project that includes an acute care patient tower and renovations to the existing hospital’s infrastructure and surgical services.
The new 183,000-square-foot tower, situated adjacent to the current hospital, will feature a dedicated family birth center with private rooms for labor and delivery, post-delivery suites, dedicated C-section operating rooms, a Level II special care nursery, and ORs for various types of surgeries including gynecologic, breast, bariatric, and complex general surgeries. Additionally, the project includes plans for a birthing center for midwives and additional support space, with an expected completion date in 2028.
