Hoag Health System, located in Newport Beach, California, has recently commenced a $1 billion expansion project at the Sun Family Campus in Irvine, California.
The expansion will include a new front entrance for the existing hospital, a 130,600-square-foot pavilion with eight operating rooms and 24 intensive care units (ICUs), as well as new parking structures, outdoor spaces, healing gardens, and a new campus road.
Additionally, a new patient and staff tunnel will connect the existing hospital to a new North campus complex, which will be home to a women’s health institute and a digestive/cancer institute.
The project team for this expansion includes LPA Design Studios as the architect, engineer, interior designer, and landscape designer, McCarthy Building Companies as the general contractor, HB&A as the construction manager, and design consultants KPFF and Tk1sc.
