Good Samaritan Society Planning $200M Project, Further Expansion in CCRC Sector

Sanford Health, through its subsidiary Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, is embarking on a $200 million project to develop a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), marking a significant expansion into this sector.
The funding for this project stems from the organization’s strategy to expand into the CCRC space, following a recent consolidation effort that reduced its footprint to seven states. The divestment of properties in 15 states generated the capital for this new endeavor, with a focus on improving care quality and residential living while achieving savings and efficiencies through a greater reliance on value-based care.
This landmark investment will see the development of a campus offering comprehensive health and wellness services, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, short-term rehabilitation, and long-term care. Additionally, it will feature home-based services, life enrichment programs, and a Sanford Health clinic and Lewis Drug pharmacy.
The project is expected to unfold in phases, with the first phase scheduled for completion in 2026 and subsequent phases up to 2028. Upon completion, the campus aims to serve as a model for addressing the evolving needs of senior communities and reducing the inconveniences faced by aging adults.
