Good Law Project sues NHSE over heavily redacted Palantir FDP contract

The Good Law Project has taken legal action against NHS England over the heavily redacted contract with US data giant Palantir for the new Federated Data Platform. The contract, published in December, had more than 70% of its content blacked out, including details about personal data protection, financial reports, key personnel, and their roles. The Good Law Project argues that these redactions violate government transparency guidelines and the Freedom of Information Act. They also question the transparency of how NHS patient records are handled with Palantir at the helm. NHS England has received a pre-action protocol letter and will be responding formally. This legal challenge follows concerns about Palantir’s covert influencer campaign targeting the Good Law Project and the controversial nature of the FDP procurement process. Critics have raised questions about the future integrity of health data and pressured NHSE to commit to a public engagement program on NHS data use.
