The GEN-O application is reshaping genomic medicine services in North West England
Developed by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), GEN-O is revolutionizing patient care and virtual care pathways in the region. It streamlines the process of genetic testing orders, result reviews, and interdisciplinary collaborations, leading to faster diagnosis and treatment for patients with rare diseases.
Initially deployed at Manchester Centre for Genomic Medicine, GEN-O is now expanding to other clinical areas within MFT. The platform aims to improve care management by bringing together genomic information and facilitating discussions across various specialties.
Professor Graeme Black from MFT praises GEN-O for enhancing patient care and reducing staff burdens, highlighting its potential for nationwide adoption. The multi-site pilot project, supported by NHS alliances and research institutions, aims to demonstrate the application’s benefits on a broader scale.
Answer Digital, a technology consulting firm, plays a crucial role in supporting the project and ensuring the safe and effective implementation of GEN-O across multiple NHS organizations. Through standardization and scalability, GEN-O has the potential to transform genomic medicine services in North West England.
