Fair Haven Community Health Care, scheduled to open in early 2025 in Fair Haven, Conn., aims to integrate healthcare and wellness services under one roof to address population health and create a vibrant community hub. The project team conducted bilingual community listening sessions to gather feedback from stakeholders, resulting in a 35,560-square-foot building that reflects the neighborhood’s character. Bill Wolpert, senior project manager at E4H Environments for Health Architecture, discusses how the facility will address the needs of Fair Haven residents. The design includes a fresh food “farmacy,” shared community spaces for programs like job training, and biophilic elements to connect users with nature. Community input guided the inclusion of a ground-level retail pharmacy and space for local artwork on the façade. The biggest challenge lies in coordinating stakeholder dynamics, while the growing demand for holistic health and wellness services is shaping the industry.
