If you have endometriosis, you may experience symptoms such as intense cramps, fatigue, excessive bleeding, and fertility issues. Some women with endometriosis also report feeling like they have gained weight. While endometriosis itself does not directly cause weight gain, there are factors associated with the condition that could contribute to it. Difficulty staying active due to pain, mental health struggles, and hormone imbalances are some possible causes of weight gain in individuals with endometriosis. Additionally, painful bloating, known as endo belly, is a common symptom that can make it appear as though you have gained weight in your midsection. However, endo belly is not related to actual weight gain but is caused by inflammation and irritation from endometrial growths. Managing weight with endometriosis involves considering lifestyle factors like diet and exercise, as well as seeking treatment for the condition itself to alleviate pain and potentially improve overall well-being. It is important to work closely with your healthcare provider to discuss your symptoms and treatment options.
