Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust Implements New EPMA
In early 2024, Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust successfully went live with a new Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system from System C. This milestone makes Sheffield Children’s the first specialist paediatric trust to integrate System C’s CareFlow Medicines Management (CMM) across the EPR pathway. The transition from paper drug cards to CMM has been completed in 10 inpatient areas, with phase two set to focus on remaining inpatient areas, outpatients, the emergency department, Becton Centre, and Ryegate Children’s Centre. By integrating CMM with its patient administration system (PAS) and other care coordination solutions, Sheffield Children’s is on a mission to improve digital maturity, enhance the inpatient process, and offer a more transparent solution to medicines management.
Devon Sexual Health Services Introduces New EPR and PHR
Also in January 2024, Devon Sexual Health Services implemented Inform Health’s electronic patient record system, along with the patient-facing Personal Health Record (PHR). This step enables patients in Devon to self-manage certain aspects of their sexual health. Initially, the PHR allows people in Devon to book and amend appointments for contraception, sexual health, and HIV services online. It is anticipated that the PHR will eventually enable patients to manage other areas of their sexual health, such as contraception, STI testing by post, and self-taken histories. The implementation of these solutions aims to improve patient access and autonomy, as well as to deliver significant efficiency savings for the service.
