Children’s Health (Dallas) and UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas have announced a groundbreaking partnership to build a $5 billion pediatric health campus on the UT Southwestern campus.
The 33-acre project will feature a state-of-the-art 2 million-square-foot hospital with two 12-story towers and an eight-story tower to replace the existing Children’s Medical Center Dallas. The new hospital will have 552 beds, a Level I pediatric trauma center, 90 emergency department (ED) exam rooms, 24 observation rooms, and two helipads, with room for future expansion.
Plans also include a connector bridge between the campus and William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital.
This innovative pediatric campus will not only provide top-notch clinical care, but also serve as a center for research, technology development, and training in various areas including gene therapy, neuromuscular diseases, metabolic disorders, congenital heart disease research, rare disease treatment, oncology, solid organ transplants, and neonatology.
The campus is scheduled to open within the next 6-7 years, shaping the future of pediatric healthcare in Dallas.
