Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California is launching the new Child, Adolescent, and Adult Behavioral Health Services Center, consolidating behavioral health services into one state-of-the-art facility.
Designed by HGA, this three-story, 207,000-square-foot center will be the first of its kind in Santa Clara County, offering specialized inpatient care for children, adolescents, and adults in need of behavioral health services.
The design of the center is prioritizing a connection to nature, providing dedicated and secure outdoor respite areas for both patients and staff. This emphasis on nature extends to the use of sustainable and biophilic design strategies.
Patient safety is a key consideration in the design, with careful planning, detailing, and finishes to ensure open sightlines between staff and patients. Special materials and construction techniques have been employed to enhance patient safety and well-being.
Expected to be completed in Fall 2025, the new center represents a significant step forward in integrated and specialized behavioral health care in the San Jose area.
