The opioid epidemic in America is a pressing health issue, with over 80,000 deaths annually from opioid overdose. A staggering 88% of opioid abuse stems from legally prescribed medications. Seeking alternative approaches to treating pain is crucial, particularly as medical providers have reduced opioid prescriptions, leaving more pain in need of treatment. In response, traditional Chinese medicine offers non-addictive alternatives.
An Opioid-Beater
As a lecturer at Yosan University School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I led a team to develop an opiate-beating medication to reduce or eliminate opioids after surgical procedures, inspired by a colleague’s success with herbal mixtures.
Mother of a Study
We designed a groundbreaking study to assess whether traditional Chinese medicine could reduce traditional pain pill use after surgeries. The study showed impressive results, with the traditional Chinese medicine cohort reporting higher sleep quality and significantly reduced postoperative pain compared to those using traditional Western pain pills alone.
A Biblical Remedy
The pain-relieving elixir includes frankincense and myrrh, two tree sap resins from Africa, known for their non-opioid pain relief properties. These ingredients have shown remarkable effectiveness in addressing pain without the use of opioids, presenting a potential solution to the opioid crisis.
