Black Country NHS Teams Lead the Way in Patient Experience Improvement
Maternity teams in the Black Country are pioneering the use of a digital platform to engage with frontline staff and enhance patient experience. Through a three-year partnership with ImproveWell, the Local Maternity and Neonatal System is implementing the platform across trusts in the region, including The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
The ImproveWell platform enables real-time feedback collection, identification of improvement areas, and suggestions for solutions tailored to each organization’s needs. With a history of successful deployments in over 70 NHS organizations, including 18 maternity teams, this regional collaboration marks a significant step towards driving continuous improvement and enhancing service quality.
By leveraging the platform, local teams aim to make immediate enhancements while developing sustainable systems for ongoing improvement. Gemma Haselgrove, lead retention midwife at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, shared her positive experience with ImproveWell, highlighting its effectiveness in engagement and trend analysis.
Employees at all levels contribute suggestions for change through the platform, with 80% of ideas requiring minimal funding for implementation. Lara Mott, CEO and co-founder of ImproveWell, emphasized the importance of frontline staff engagement in driving innovation and improving safety and patient experience.
The Black Country teams’ commitment to listening to staff ideas and implementing impactful changes will undoubtedly enhance the overall experience for both staff and patients. As the platform expands to Emergency Departments in the upcoming months, the region is poised for continued progress and excellence in healthcare delivery.
