Located just a few miles from the Gulf of Mexico, Moorings Park Grande Lake is a newly expanded continuing care retirement community (CCRC) that is setting new standards for luxury senior living. The addition of the Moorings Park Grande Lake Clubhouse brings residents together within a central hub bustling with life and energy at the heart of a 55-acre campus.
The clubhouse, which serves as a clubhouse and independent living residence, is designed to reflect both high luxury and the surrounding natural environment, taking cues from its location near the Gulf of Mexico. According to Moorings Park CEO Dan Lavender, the expansion aims to capture renewed senior living demand and expand the overall mission of Moorings Park as a non-profit senior living provider, with a focus on successful aging.
The clubhouse’s exterior design features a modern twist on coastal contemporary design, and its amenities include a full-service spa, theater, and other luxury features. This innovative design recently earned the project top honors in the 2023 SHN Architecture and Design Awards’ Best Independent Living category.
From the outset, the luxury life plan community emphasized the environment and the surrounding natural features, aiming to bring nature indoors with organic lines, rich textures, and natural materials to create a sense of calm and refinement. A focus on nature and resident wellness informed the project’s layout, with ample natural light, greenery, and water features throughout the building.
Despite facing construction challenges during the height of the pandemic, the design and construction teams came together to overcome obstacles and maintain the project’s 15 to 18-month construction schedule, ultimately completing the clubhouse in February 2021 on a budget of approximately $77 million.
Today, the Grande Lake Clubhouse stands as a testament to the success of the project, with residents engaging with the amenities and enjoying a truly active and engaging community. The completion of the clubhouse marks the beginning of construction for assisted living units on the campus, while demand for the community remains high, with plans to add additional community spaces to accommodate the growing resident population.
