Barts Health NHS Trust has introduced a groundbreaking initiative by launching a ‘digital staff bank’, catering to over 4,000 doctors in London. Scheduled to be operational in September 2024, this platform will offer increased flexibility to doctors by allowing them to choose shifts through a connected app. Initially being implemented across five main hospital sites, including St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London, this initiative aims to address workforce challenges and provide clinicians with more control over their schedules. Partnering with Patchwork Health, this innovative platform at Barts Health NHS Trust is set to revolutionize staffing processes, reduce administrative burden, and ultimately enhance patient care. By providing access to Patchwork Insights, a data analytics tool, the trust aims to leverage insights into staffing trends and optimize workforce management. Dr Anas Nader, co-founder of Patchwork Health, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the importance of flexible staffing in maintaining quality healthcare services. With plans for expansion to support more clinicians and foster collaboration in London, this digital staff bank initiative heralds a new era of workforce management in healthcare.
