Have you ever dreamed of owning a bookstore? For novelist Maura Cheeks, that dream became a reality on June 23rd when she opened Liz’s Book Bar in Carroll Gardens. Not just a bookstore, but also a café and wine bar! Maura shares about her work outfits, favorite novels, and even her $60 wedding band.
Wearing a shirt from Liz’s Book Bar and Everlane shorts, Maura explains the significance of the store’s name, inspired by her grandmother Liz. Comfort is key for Maura, often opting for jumpsuits and Paloma Wool pants. She also shares the story behind her simple wedding band from Etsy.
In her vibrant jumpsuit and statement Paloma Wool pants, Maura stands out in a sea of black in New York City. Despite the challenges of running a bookstore, Maura finds it rewarding and impactful, especially as a Black-owned business in the neighborhood.
Thank you, Maura, for letting us into your bookstore and sharing your story. P.S. Check out more women sharing their weekly outfits, including a pattern lover in Seattle and an antiques dealer in Maine. (Photos by Yumi Matsuo.)
