At the turn of the 20th century, cities worldwide faced a growing problem – horse manure. With urban populations rapidly increasing, the number of horse-drawn carriages transporting people and goods also rose, resulting in millions of pounds of waste generated daily. However, the introduction of the automobile solved the issue, showing how predictions can be off. Similarly, humans struggled to predict the future of flight until Wilbur Wright’s successful attempt in 1903. This highlights the unreliability of predictions, as exemplified by various historical inaccuracies. As such, it’s crucial to hold predictions loosely and be prepared for unexpected outcomes. By accepting our inability to foresee the future accurately, we can adapt and plan more effectively for various scenarios. In a world filled with uncertainties, having flexible plans and being open to being proven wrong is key to resilience and progress towards our goals. Let’s embrace the unpredictability of life and approach our plans with a mindset of strong predictions held loosely.
