A few weeks ago, I received a parking ticket. I had forgotten to pay for parking while meeting friends at a bar in Nashville.
After realizing my mistake, I found the ticket on my windshield with a hefty fine. My relaxing evening turned into an expensive one.
Despite the annoyance, I chose to laugh it off. I paid the ticket that night and transferred the amount from my “Absent Minded Fund” to cover the cost.
This fund, once known as my “idiot fund,” is a savings account I contribute to monthly for unexpected expenses due to absent-mindedness.
While it would be ideal to avoid such mistakes, having a proactive approach helps me handle them without dwelling on them.
Just like the Ulysses Pact concept, preparing for unexpected slip-ups allows us to move forward without unnecessary guilt.
This incident made me consider implementing a similar approach to wellness, like creating an Emergency Workout Fund.
Emergency Workout Fund
Inspired by Andrew Coates’ article, I realized the importance of pushing through workouts even on off days.
Working out when unmotivated is like investing in an “Emergency Workout Fund,” building resilience for future challenges.
It may be tough in the moment, but the rewards are worth it. Future You will appreciate the effort put into this fund.
