Hey there friends! I hope you’re having a great morning so far. We just got back from our wonderful trip to Spain, feeling joyful and fulfilled. Stay tuned for a full recap of all the fun we had! Today, I wanted to chat about the books I delved into during the month of June. I had more time to read, thanks to a 10-hour plane ride from Phx to London – talk about the perfect opportunity to dive into some great reads! I came across some real gems, along with one surprising disappointment. I’d love to hear about what’s on your reading list as well! Here’s a look at the books that captured my attention in June 2024:
“The Strands of Health: A Guide to Understanding Hair Mineral Analysis” by Rick Malter
This insightful book delves deep into the world of hair mineral analysis, shedding light on how this tool can be used to assess and improve overall health. Malter guides readers through the significance of mineral imbalances, the effects of toxic metals on the body, and the benefits of utilizing hair mineral analysis to uncover hidden health issues. With detailed case studies and practical advice, the book empowers readers to take charge of their health by understanding their body’s mineral needs. While some may find the information repetitive, I personally appreciated the reinforcement, making it easier to absorb and retain the valuable insights presented.
“A Court of Thorns and Roses” by Sarah J. Maas
After resisting the hype surrounding this book for a while, I finally caved in and boy, was I pleasantly surprised! This enchanting fantasy follows the journey of Feyre Archeron, a mortal huntress thrust into a magical realm after a fateful encounter. As she navigates this new world, Feyre discovers romance, adventure, and a looming threat that puts both faerie and human worlds at risk. The blend of romance, magic, and suspense in this book gives off Harry Potter and Twilight vibes, but with a mature twist. It’s a captivating read that kept me hooked from start to finish.
“Funny Story” by Emily Henry (Did Not Finish)
I had high hopes for this book, given my appreciation for Emily Henry’s work, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I found the plot lacking and struggled to stay engaged, eventually deciding to part ways with the book before reaching the end. Life’s too short to force yourself through a book that doesn’t resonate with you, and I’ve learned to embrace the liberation of not finishing reads that don’t spark joy.
“Limitless” by Jim Kwik
Having had the pleasure of hearing Jim Kwik speak at a conference, I was eager to dive into his book on unlocking the full potential of our brains. “Limitless” offers cutting-edge techniques for enhancing memory, focus, and cognitive function, empowering readers to break free from limitations and achieve their goals. From speed-reading to developing a limitless mindset, this book is brimming with actionable strategies to optimize brain function. The audio version was particularly enjoyable for me, offering a dynamic way to absorb the valuable insights shared.
“Unexpected: Finding Resilience through Functional Medicine, Science, and Faith” by Dr. Jill Carnahan
A book that resonated deeply with me after hearing Dr. Jill Carnahan share her story of resilience, “Unexpected” offers practical strategies for improving health and well-being. Through a blend of functional medicine, science, and faith, Dr. Carnahan guides readers on a journey towards healing and empowerment. The book is a beacon of hope in times of uncertainty and serves as a valuable resource for those navigating health challenges. It’s an easy yet impactful read that leaves you feeling inspired and equipped to take control of your own wellness journey.
