Hailing from Guatemala, Karina Alejos grew up witnessing the impact of natural disasters and climate change on her community. This sparked her interest in sustainability and innovation, leading her to explore avenues like recycling, composting, policy, renewable energies, and sustainable economies.

Focusing on the intersection of business and sustainability, Alejos pursued a business management concentration at Columbia University undergrad. She now works as an ESG consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, leveraging her SDEV program education and skills in daily tasks.
Alejos believes sustainability offers diverse career opportunities across sectors, urging students to pursue this field for its meaningful impact on the planet’s well-being.
Throughout her college years, Alejos participated in EcoReps, a sustainability initiative, honing her skills and passion for environmental advocacy. She wishes she had delved deeper into sustainability regulations and reporting during her time at Columbia.
Despite the challenges of online classes during COVID, Alejos encourages students to engage with their programs, build connections, and make the most of their educational experiences.
