In 2023, wages for many key health care workers in assisted living increased between 5% and 6% on average, as reported by the latest edition of the Assisted Living Salary & Benefits Report from Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service (HCS). This increase in hourly rates was experienced by certified nurse aides (CNAs), registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), medication aides, and resident assistants (RAs), according to an HCS press release.
The report also indicated a decrease in turnover, as well as an increase in sign-on bonuses for these clinical workers. It reflects a positive trend in labor metrics, following several years of labor challenges and concerns over labor costs in the industry.
Looking ahead, the report also noted planned increases in base pay for CNAs, RNs, and LPNs, with a slightly less substantial increase compared to 2023. Additionally, the report highlighted an increase in salaries for key leadership positions in assisted living.
