As told to Jacquelyne Froeber
When my sister turned 13, I surprised her with a ring engraved with the words, “I hope you dance.” The lyrics of that song captured everything I wished for her – confidence, strength, and a life lived without regrets.
These sentiments hit close to home for me too. As a woman dealing with obesity, I struggled to love myself and feel comfortable in my own skin, especially as I approached my 40s. But one evening, while dancing to a Britany Spears song, I realized my body couldn’t move like it used to. This moment triggered a restlessness within me.
Shortly after, my doctor proposed an anti-obesity medication that could help me manage my weight. Despite initial doubts, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, my insurance refused to cover the costs, leaving me disheartened.
Disappointed yet determined, I stumbled upon a coupon for the medication online. With renewed hope, I started the treatment and experienced significant changes in my relationship with food and my body.
Over a year later, I’ve shed weight and regained a sense of freedom to move and dance like never before. This medication has transformed my life, giving me the opportunity to break free from physical limitations and embrace joy in movement.
