Three leading NHS foundation trusts – Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust – have joined forces to implement a shared electronic patient record (EPR). This collaboration, known as the Acute Hospital Alliance, aims to streamline patient care by allowing clinical staff to digitally share patient information between trusts. The EPR will be delivered by Oracle Health, with support from the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board (BSW ICB). NHS England is providing investment and practical assistance through its ‘frontline digitisation programme’ to help the trusts prepare for the shared EPR, set to go live in 2026. This initiative is designed to enhance efficiency, consistency, and patient outcomes across the region, ultimately improving the overall healthcare experience for patients.
