PocDoc introduces a groundbreaking feature on its at-home testing kit for cardiovascular disease (CVD) that allows patients to view their test results directly on their NHS patient record. The PocDoc kit enables patients to conduct point-of-care diagnostic tests for CVD, receive a comprehensive cholesterol panel test, and access important health data such as heart age, risk of heart attack or stroke, and BMI through the PocDoc app. Additionally, patients will have access to follow-up treatment options if necessary. This innovative screening initiative aims to raise awareness and increase participation in life-saving health checks, particularly in underserved communities. PocDoc is available for purchase at pharmacies or provided free to eligible individuals on the NHS. Patients aged 40 to 74 who are not currently prescribed statins or blood pressure medication are eligible for the test. Once integration is complete, test results will be seamlessly integrated into patients’ NHS records via the app. Steve Roest, CEO of PocDoc, believes that early detection of chronic diseases can help alleviate pressure on the NHS and make essential services more accessible nationwide. Future plans include offering additional health tests and expanding into new international markets. In a strategic partnership, Pharmacy2U will provide PocDoc’s Healthy Heart Check to their repeat prescription patients. The economic impact of CVD underscores the urgency of preventive measures, with costs amounting to £7.4 billion annually for the healthcare system and £15.8 billion for the overall economy. Stay tuned for further updates on PocDoc’s advancements in healthcare technology.
