The Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board (ICB) recently introduced a children’s virtual ward to enhance the delivery of hospital-level paediatric care in the comfort of patients’ homes.
By leveraging Feebris technology, this virtual ward, part of a major integrated program within the region, aims to benefit around 500 patients monthly across four trusts under the ICB.
Through regular monitoring and communication with clinicians, families can actively participate in their child’s care plan until discharge, promoting a quicker recovery process.
Dr. Yanny Delgado, the clinical lead for the virtual ward, emphasized the focus on equitable access to specialized care for acutely ill children, empowering parents to monitor their child’s progress remotely with the support of healthcare professionals and educational resources.
The initiative aligns with NHS evaluations showing the potential of virtual wards in reducing hospital admissions, highlighting the importance of transforming out-of-hospital care to meet evolving healthcare needs.
Feebris, the technology behind the virtual care platform, has been instrumental in expanding clinical capacity and providing high-quality care to underserved communities through AI-guided solutions.
As the virtual ward continues to make a positive impact on paediatric care in Norfolk, the collaboration between healthcare providers and technology innovators sets a precedent for enhanced patient outcomes and overall well-being.
