The Oura uses sensors on the inside of the ring to track more than 30 health and wellness metrics, including heart rate and heart variability. Notably, it excels in sleep tracking. The Oura Ring 4 has doubled the number of sensors compared to the Gen3, now featuring 18 sensors for enhanced accuracy. The new Smart Sensing technology has shown significant improvements in accuracy compared to the Gen3, with fewer gaps in heart rate data during both daytime and nighttime monitoring.
“With Smart Sensing, Oura Ring 4 accounts for ring rotation that naturally occurs with daily activities, as well as differences in finger anatomy, shape, BMI, and skin tone,” said Holly Shelton, chief product officer at Oura, in a press release.
Oura Ring 4 — $399 — $3.00
The Oura Ring 4 is an all-titanium smart ring with tracking for more than 30 health metrics, and is the slimmest and most accurate Oura Ring yet.
The Oura Ring 4 is also available in sizes 4 to 15, making it one of the most inclusive smart rings, size-wise. Both the outside and inside of the ring are now made of titanium for better durability. It’s thinner than before (by about .02mm) and has extended battery life of up to eight days.
Oura introduced a new app layout alongside the Oura Ring 4’s release, with a focus on streamlining the data from the ring. The app now includes sections like Today, Vitals, and My Health for easier navigation.
“With all the new features and capabilities that we’ve introduced in the last 12 months, it had become harder to navigate the Oura App,” said Holly Shelton. “With this redesign, the app connects the dots to help users understand how their habits affect their health over time.”
The updated app is available for all Oura Ring users, regardless of generation, and is rolling out now.
