Reconnecting with old friends is truly comforting and enjoyable. I still keep in touch with many of the girls I went to high school with, and no matter how much time has passed, we can easily pick up where we left off (check out this photo of us!).
As we age, it becomes harder to maintain these old friendships. Life gets busy with grandchildren, aging parents, and people moving away. Time can be a challenge between retirees and those still working, requiring more effort to stay connected.
However, the effort is worth it. Old friends have a way of taking us back to our younger selves.
I recently asked my friends about their longest-standing friendships. Some mentioned still being in touch with their grammar school buddies, but I was amazed to hear about someone who might hold the title for the longest-standing friendship.
One of my colleagues mentioned having lunch with three friends she’s known since pre-school.
