One in three GPs say their work computers are ‘not fit for purpose’
A recent poll conducted by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) revealed that 30% of GPs reported that their work PC or laptop software is not adequate for their needs.
Additionally, the survey highlighted issues with hardware, wifi, telephony systems, and the ability to exchange information with other NHS services.
These findings underscore the importance of investing in GP infrastructure, including IT systems, to ensure that patient care is not compromised and healthcare professionals can effectively carry out their duties.
It is essential for the government to allocate sufficient funding, such as the suggested £2 billion, to improve GP infrastructure and address the challenges faced by primary care providers.
By enhancing digital capabilities and addressing IT shortcomings, the healthcare system can better meet the needs of patients and healthcare professionals alike.
