The Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service has successfully migrated to Clinisys WinPath, marking a significant milestone in the CoreLIMS programme. The goal is to create a unified technology platform by integrating seven different information systems used by laboratories across the region. This transition will streamline processes such as blood and blood component requests, ultimately improving efficiency and patient care. Clinisys was awarded the contract for the laboratory information system in 2021, and the CoreLIMS programme is set to continue until 2025. Belfast and South Eastern Health and Social Care Trusts have already migrated their systems, with plans for further integration across the country. The move towards a single, integrated electronic care record for all Northern Ireland residents is a key focus for the ongoing tech projects.
