North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust has decided to expand the MyHealthCall patient engagement portal after a successful trial. The new outpatient services available for management by patients using the NHS app include respiratory medicine, urology, gynaecology, general surgery, clinical haematology, and more. The trust found that the new booking system for outpatient gastroenterology appointments saved an average of 10 missed appointments each month, resulting in monthly savings of £1,500. The head of outpatients and place based care at the trust, Kath Tarn, emphasized that the app system is all about patient choice and convenience. The digital health company NHS Health Call, provider of MyHealthCall PEP, praised the trust’s swift adoption of the technology as a commitment to improving services and enabling more choice and flexibility for patients in managing their care.
