North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust has partnered with Patchwork Health to implement an e-rostering platform aimed at enhancing the well-being and retention of its medical staff while improving workforce reporting. This new tool allows managers to efficiently plan and manage departmental rotas in alignment with patient demand, increasing workforce visibility and streamlining leave management. The platform also includes a mobile app for medics to easily view their schedules and request time off. Dr. Adrian Clements, executive medical director at the trust, commended Patchwork Health for delivering a user-friendly solution that supports flexible working and service demands. The system enables flexible staffing deployment based on demand and offers data insights to reduce reliance on third-party agencies. Additionally, an exception reporting feature helps optimize staff well-being and patient safety by allowing medics to flag extra hours worked outside their contracted rota. CEO Dr. Anas Nader praised North Cumbria for leading the way in innovation to address staffing challenges in the healthcare sector. The e-rostering system was successfully rolled out to key departments in December 2023, following the example of Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
