Cedar Community, a nonprofit senior living provider, has recently completed a $40 million repositioning project across its three communities in Washington County, Wisconsin. This initiative was undertaken to cater to the evolving needs of the next generation of senior living customers. The repositioning included downsizing skilled nursing beds, transforming buildings into updated independent living apartments, and implementing upgrades to vital infrastructure.
CEO Nicole Pretre highlighted the organization’s commitment to sustainability and environmental consciousness throughout the renovation process. The focus was not only on modernizing the facilities but also on preserving the natural green spaces and lakeshore surrounding the communities.
As occupancy levels increased post-pandemic, Cedar Community faced staffing challenges but managed to enhance staff retention and recruitment efforts. This led to a significant recovery in occupancy rates, particularly in independent living units.
Looking ahead, Cedar Community is exploring various growth opportunities across the entire continuum of senior care services. This includes potential acquisitions and partnerships to further expand and diversify their offerings. While plans are still under consideration, CEO Nicole Pretre expressed optimism about the organization’s future growth prospects.
