NHS Borders Collaborates with EQL to Enhance Musculoskeletal Healthcare Through Phio
NHS Borders has joined forces with EQL to introduce Phio, a digital solution aimed at offering swift access to musculoskeletal healthcare for patients in the region, ultimately enhancing their health and quality of life.
This tech partnership is designed to expedite access to musculoskeletal (MSK) care in the Borders area, while also easing the burden on GPs and primary care services. The innovative digital platform is anticipated to significantly improve the well-being of individuals dealing with back, neck, joint, and muscle pain.
Following a successful implementation in the Highland Health and Social Care Partnership area, Phio is now available to NHS Borders patients, marking the introduction of a self-referral facility for MSK issues for the first time.
Individuals over 16 years old registered with any of the 23 GP practices in the Scottish Borders can utilize Phio to receive prompt assessment and appropriate guidance towards the most suitable support or treatment.
Sarah Horan, NHS Borders’s director of nursing, midwifery, and AHPs, expressed the benefits of using Phio as a convenient pathway to tailored care and self-management of conditions.
Patients accessing the Phio platform can undergo a detailed digital assessment overseen by EQL’s clinicians and physiotherapists, ensuring personalized care plans and access to necessary interventions.
By empowering patients to actively engage in their healthcare journey, Phio aims to streamline the MSK care process, offering timely assistance and support based on individual needs.
In line with the commitment to enhance MSK care, Cognitant and Versus Arthritis previously collaborated to provide informative resources and tools for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
