Priory Partners with Ashtons for Five-Year EPMA Contract
Priory, a leading mental health provider, has recently renewed its contract with Ashtons, a digital medical management solutions firm, for a five-year period. This contract includes the implementation of Ashtons’ electronic prescribing and medicines administration (EPMA) system, e-Works.
As part of the renewed contract, Priory will benefit from medicines supply services, audit and clinical advice from pharmacists, staff training, and e-learning opportunities. The e-Works EPMA system, a cloud-based solution, offers decision support for prescribers and a medicines administration scheduler.
Adrian Cree, chief medical officer at Priory, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, highlighting Ashtons’ commitment to patient safety, innovative solutions, and exceptional service. The previous deployment of e-Works across Priory’s 53 facilities led to significant improvements in medication management and patient outcomes.
Under the new contract, Priory will pioneer the implementation of Ashtons’ ‘2.0 programme’, enabling remote pharmacist advice and enhancing stock management. Selwyn John, implementation manager at Ashtons, emphasized the evolving nature of e-Works, tailored for mental health, hospices, and clinics.
Stephen Tuddenham, chief executive at Ashtons, views this contract renewal as a milestone that solidifies the company’s position as a leader in digital medicines management solutions. The announcement coincides with Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust going live with an EPMA solution from System C.
