King’s Health Partners Collaborates with Sweatcoin to Launch Innovative Diabetes Programme

King’s Health Partners, a leading NHS-university partnership in south east London, has introduced Type 2 Take 2, a groundbreaking pilot programme designed for young adults aged 18-25 with type 2 diabetes. This six-month, in-person initiative, supported by Partnership Southwark, aims to promote physical activity among participants.

The programme incorporates the use of the Sweatcoin app to incentivize and track physical activity. Participants will engage in challenges and monitor their progress using the app, which rewards users with sweatcoins that can be exchanged for various vouchers, including health-related products and experiences.

Sweatcoin, a previous finalist in the Digital Health Rewired Pitchfest, has been highly successful in motivating individuals to increase their physical activity levels. The app was the most downloaded health app globally in 2022-2023, helping users move an average of 43% more.

Elliot Omari, health and wellbeing practitioner for Type 2 Take 2, expressed optimism about the partnership with Sweatcoin, stating, “By combining our expertise in diabetes care with Sweatcoin’s unique approach to incentivizing physical activity, we aim to empower young adults to better manage their diabetes and lead healthier lives.”

Anton Derlyatka, CEO and co-founder of Sweatcoin, shared his excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare in addressing diabetes. The partnership between King’s Health Partners and Sweatcoin signifies a new era in proactive health management.
